Intended Use A single queen purchase is best for: Requeening an existing hive (replacing an old, weak, or aggressive queen). Splitting hives (introducing a new queen to a nucleus colony made from brood and workers of an existing hive). Traits of Italian Queens Temperament: Gentle, calm, and ideal for backyard beekeepers Productivity: Strong brood rearing and excellent honey production.
