Q: I am trying to use Gripple Medium Fasteners with the Torq tool. Woven goat and sheep field fence has 4x4 squares. Thiefs cut middle of run so trying to gut strain a repair with corner ends still tied. Need to know minimum overlap needed. Even possible?

- A: To make a repair with the ends of Goat and Sheep fence with Gripples you will want approximately 1” of the wire sticking through the Gripple in both directions. You can do this by first removing the staples/ fasteners on the posts on both sides of the cut then using two Stretcher Bars and placing one on each side of the cut and pull the wire together. Once this is complete you can use Gripples to connect the wire. If you do not have enough wire to do this you can use a section of Bekaert’s High Tensile smooth wire and using two Gripples one on each end make a wider splice. When doing this with Goat and Sheep fence, if you cannot get the opening back close to a 4” spacing you may want to leave a spacing large enough so the livestock will be able to insert and remove their head to prevent them from getting entrapped in the fence.
