Q: is this safe for CENTIPEDE lawns? Bermuda?

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! Gordon's Amine 400 2,4-D Weed Killer is highly toxic and unsafe for Centipede grass, but it can be used safely on established Bermuda lawns if applied with strict precautions. Centipede grass is incredibly sensitive to the chemical 2,4-D, meaning an application will severely injure, yellow, or completely kill your turf. While Bermuda grass has a much higher natural tolerance, spraying it when summer temperatures rise above 85°F can still scorch your lawn.

  • A: Howdy neighbor! Gordon's Amine 400 2,4-D will kill poison hemlock if applied when the plant is young, but it will also harm or kill nearby broadleaf plants, such as flowers, vegetables, and shrubs. While it is generally safe for most established grasses, it can severely injure warm-season lawns like St. Augustine or Zoysia.

Killed all the garden weeds

Bought it because I have a large garden bed that isn’t been in use for years and was covered with weeds including hemlock. I did add extra concentrate and mixed with water in a gallon sprayer. Applied to the weed leaves and stems and also grass that was coming through the brick pavers. It did not kill the grass but within a week the weeds in the garden were dying and the thickness of them diminished as well. I’ve applied a second coat and hoping it kills everything. Good product so far. Once dead we plan to readily and plant wild flowers.

Yes, I recommend this product.
