The ring that goes around the top of the bucket has a very snug fit. I couldn't get it on the bucket by hand so I layed the ring down upside-down and place the top of the bucket onto the ring and put my weight on the bucket and it snapped in place. Much easier to install the ring this way.

Do NOT trust them

We bought these to cover 5 gallon buckets to store potatoes in b/c we Gamma lids are supposed to air tight and keep flies out or, at least, keep them in.
$150-200 bucks (fly traps, vinegar, etc) later, we figured out our drain/ fruit fly issue was from the potatoes in the buckets. I trusted the lids, so it was a while before I checked carefully. The flies are HORRIBLE!! They had either started in the buckets with these lids, or they had gotten in somehow.
I contacted the maker. They trouser to refund me but are sending me new lids. I felt I deserved a refund considering my costs of trusting the lids. I will NEVER trust them again nor order anymore from here. NEVER.
