Q&As

1 - 3 of 3 Questions

Q: Does this effectively exclude pests like mice?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. It is designed to be rodent‑resistant, but it doesn’t completely keep out pests like mice on its own. Very persistent rodents can chew through plastic or find entry points over time.

Q: Does this composter work in extreme heat, such as in Central Arizona?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, the Exaco Aerobin 400 Insulated Composter is designed to work in all climates, including extreme heat. Its insulated, double-skinned walls help stabilize the internal temperature, preventing the biomass from overheating and drying out in hot weather.

Q: What happens when temps. are way below freezing. Does it continue working? How?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, Here is the information we received from our vendor- "The compost process will slow down in the winter. Continue to add a balance of green (nitrogen) and brown (carbon) materials, vegetable peelings, coffee grounds, eggshells, and shredded newspaper. Breaking them into small pieces increases the surface area for organisms to work on. The more material you have in the composter the more it will retain heat. Keep an eye on the moisture level. If it appears to dry, add a little water. The Aerobin is insulated so it will hold in some warmth depending on how long the temperatures are below freezing. Once the outside temperatures warm up the compost process should resume."

Let’s get composting

Great size but remember it is a plastic structure. Might look out of place in the wrong location.
