Q: Can it be sprayed on the undercarriage of my car?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi Neighbor- You can spray Evapo-Rust under a car for light surface rust, but for heavy rust, soaking small parts is best; for large undercarriage areas, you'll need a dedicated rust converter or undercoating after mechanical removal (brush/grinder disc)

Q: Does evoporust leave anything leave anything behind on cast iron that will effect seasoning with oil

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi Neighbor- Yes, Evapo-Rust can leave a black film or a sticky residue, but this is not the product itself, but rather a byproduct of the rust removal process. The black film is often a carbon deposit from the steel, and it can be removed by washing with soap and water or wiping with a cloth. A sticky residue may indicate that the part was not rinsed properly or was left in the solution for too long, and can be mitigated by rinsing thoroughly or applying a light coating of a rust inhibitor after drying.

    • A: Hi Neighbor- Yes, Evapo-Rust can be used to remove rust from a water bowl, as it is safe to use on metals like steel, and it won't harm unrusted steel or most other materials, including plastic, that a water bowl might be made of.

    This stuff is amazing

I have tried just about every rust remover on the planet and just happened across this in the store the other day and thought I'd try it too. I'm rebuilding the front axle on my tractor and didn't want to use an acid based cleaner because I didn't want the bearing bores over sized. This stuff flat out works. It works so well I've thrown stuff in the bucket just because it works that I normally would not have cared about. I LOVE the fact that it has no chemical smell, the bucket is actually in the house and my wife didn't realize it since the bucket stays by my reloading bench anyway. Not the fastest thing in the world but the safest I've ever ran across.

    Works, takes longer than expected.

Be aware that this is not a rust converter that you can just spray or brush onto rusty metal, the rusty parts must be submerged in the liquid. I used it to clean up some very rusty old mower parts. The directions say that it takes 30 minutes or overnight for heavy rust. I left my parts submerged for 3 days with daily agitation and scrubbing with a wire brush. After 3 days some parts were still not completely rust free, but the remaining rust was minimal and easily removed with a wire wheel. The de-rusted parts have a dull pitted appearance similar to sand-blasted parts, but without any change to un-rusted areas.

    Not a cure-all

This is fine for removing rust I guess but it didn't do what I needed, which was removing secondary rusting from over-soaking in vinegar (i.e., a hard red crust over the surface). If anything the effect was worse after I soaked the items. I also don't know why it took almost a week to arrive when I ordered it from a store in the next town.

Works awesome and never fails. Reusable, once done pour it back so you can use it again. I pour it back through a coffee filter to get the big chunks of dirt out. I have had it continue to work for years. It is not cheap but I really have not found anything that works better.

    Buy POR 15 rust converter

Didn't seem to do anything. I used POR 15 rust converter that worked great, it turned rust black or gray but I missed a couple spots. POR 15 gallon almost did a 10 x 6 utility trailer. Used whole gallon of this stuff on a couple spots. Seemed of no use.

This Really is The Rust Buster!

Far better results than using vinegar! This is pricey but results are amazing. Just remember your parts need to soak submerged for at least 24 hours, 48 hours if very badly rusted. Vinegar takes weeks! This works fast. Cleans all rust yet harmless to metal. Leaves black coating which needs to be finished soon after treatment or it will rust again. Good product for the money.

This is an outstanding product! It does what it says! You just put your rusty parts in a container and submerge it with Evapo-Rust! I put rusty bolts as well as a rusty motorcycle chain and within 8 hours all the rust was gone! I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

    Absolutely Awesome

I have bought this to aid in a rusty old 8N restoration. I soaked a spare flywheel that sat outside for 3 years in this for 48 hours. It was rusty beyond your imagination. It cleaned up like new. Put it into the old tractor with a new clutch and its works fantastic. Just remeber this is designed to submurse your rusty parts in and let them soak.
