Checking the Molded Facing: Since this is a brand-new unit, it's possible a small piece of plastic flashing or a slight ridge was accidentally missed during the molding process on the production line. If the flat sealing face of the drain opening isn't perfectly smooth, the gasket inside the cap can't seal flat against it. If you feel a rough edge or ridge there, smoothing it down gently with a piece of fine sandpaper usually solves the problem instantly.
