Cefpodoxime Proxetil are used to treat skin infections (abscesses and wounds) in dogs. These infections are caused by susceptible strains of certain bacteria, such as Proteus mirabilis, Pasteurella multocida, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus canis (group G, B hemolytic), Staphylococcus aureus, or Staphylococcus intermedius.

Special Precautions

• Cefpodoxime Proxetil could periodically cause a positive direct Coombs' test.
• Safety of this drug is not demonstrated for lactating, breeding, or pregnant dogs.

Overdose Information

Contact your veterinary emergency room in case of overdose.
Symptoms of overdose (thyrotoxicosis) may include:

• Increased thirst, urination, and hunger
• Hyperactivity
• Personality change
• Reduce heat tolerance

Side Effects

Antimicrobial medications like cephalosporins and penicillins may cause an allergic reaction in certain individuals. To minimize this possibility, it is advised that those handling the drug avoid direct contact of the medication with the mucous membranes and skin.

Storage

Store at room temperature 68° to 77°F (20° to 25°C ). After opening, securely replace cap.
