Are you ready to grow a world record-sized hot pepper? For a huge chile with big flavor and medium heat, add Bonnie Plants New Mex Big Jim Hot Pepper to your garden. Introduced by New Mexico State University in 1975 and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, this is the world's largest chile pepper. The compact plant produces big yields of giant, mildly hot peppers with a Scoville rating of 2,500 to 3,000. Pick peppers when green. The large fruit make these perfect peppers for chile rellenos, but they're also delicious in salsa, sauces, enchiladas, and any Mexican-inspired recipes that need some heat. The thick-walled fruit is great grilled or roasted. The pretty plants produce loads of 10 to 12-inch fruit until first frost. Plant in full sun after last spring frost, 24 inches apart. Plant reaches 24 to 36 inches tall and matures in 80 days. Be sure to water your plant when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, and feed it regularly with Miracle-Gro Plant Food. Bonnie Plants live plant varieties are designed for your gardening success, whether they're disease resistant, heat tolerant, space savers, or produce abundant harvests.
