4health with Wholesome Grains Puppy Lamb Formula Dry Dog Food

This is a new product on the market and I was impressed by the ingredient profile. No soy, no beet pulp, no junk fillers, good nutrient profile except for the calcim/phosphorus ratio. The phosphorus is too high and should be in a proportion of 1:1.5. The feeding trial with this litter has yielded excellent results with nice even weight gain and great energy levels. After breeding dogs for over 50 years and using most of the high end puppy foods at one time or another this food is showing great promise for continuous use as well as a relief to my wallet. The key will be the manufacturing company keeping the same high quality ingredients and nutrient profile and not continuously changing the formula to maximize profit. The food is great, I hope the company doesn't experiment with the formula like most dog food companies. This is also a great food for adult small breeds who need that higher energy ration.

We were looking for an affordable dog food for our dogs that was still high in quality. 4health has a lot of good ingredients that could make it a 4 or 5 star dog food. The problem is there is way to much fiber & pro-biotics. This is to help aid digestion unfortunately it aids digestion to well & our dogs keep diarrhea. Also Flax seed contains 19% of protein the total protein in this dog food is 27%. Therefore only 8% of the protein is coming from the meat source. If they changed this I would rate this a 5 star dog food. Otherwise my advise is to find another brand if you are having this problem with your dogs.
