will this do rocksalt

This product is only intended for spreading seed and fertilizer. Salt is not recommended because it can easily clump up and block the opening, which can burn out the motor. If you do try to use salt, you will need to clear the opening and un-clump the salt frequently to avoid damage to the spreader.
