Tomato Planter

The only concern with this planter is the difficulty in moving it around. We're checking different sun spots to see where plants grow the best, and this has been a barrier. The wheels are not strong enough for rolling across anything but pavement/sidewalk, and there's no real handles to pick it up. A clip to connect it would be perfect.

I'm now on my fifth Vego self-watering planter and these things just work. I've grown tomatoes in them for the past few seasons with consistently great results — the self-watering reservoir takes the guesswork out of summer watering, and the breathable design means I haven't had any of the root suffocation issues you get with cheaper self-watering pots.
The 15"x15" footprint and 1 cubic foot soil capacity hits a sweet spot for serious vegetable growing — big enough for indeterminate tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, or a vining flower like butterfly pea, but not so massive that it dominates a patio or deck. The 40" trellis is sturdy and well-sized for most climbing crops. The 2. 4-gallon reservoir means I can travel for a few days without panicking about my plants.
What I appreciate most: the build quality feels like it'll last for years (no flimsy plastic), the design looks intentional on a deck (cream and green colorways both look clean), and they're easy to fill and monitor with the integrated water gauge.
Only minor note: they're an investment compared to fabric grow bags, but the productivity gain — and the time saved on watering — has made each one pay for itself over a season. Worth it.
Highly recommend for anyone container gardening seriously, especially if you travel or have an inconsistent watering schedule.

Almost just right

Well designed. Only thing that could make it better is . . better wheels or rollers. I roll the planter out to my deck when it's warm and roll inside when it is cool overnight. The small rollers on the planter don't do the job. I have to carry it outside.
The fruit planters have better wheels, but they are too big for one tomato plant.
