Trellis connectors are unfortunately not reliable

I wanted to love this planter because it was the perfect footprint for cherry tomatoes on my deck. I honestly did not use the self-watering feature because it was just as easy to dump some water in when the plant needed it.
Here's my complaint: the connectors that hold the trellis pieces together constantly gave out and the bars (and subsequently plant stems) would fall apart. Basically as the plant grew and was relying on the trellis, it would push the connectors apart, and when you try to reconnect in one spot, out popped one on the other side. I fought this all season once the plant got to be a good size.
I tried using some electric tape to hold the connectors in place, eventually that would give out too. When I pack things up for the season, I'm going to try using some industrial glue to permanently keep the tiers as a square to see if it holds up next year.
The connectors are definitely a problem with the side portions that create the circumference. I would be more upset if I had paid outright for the planters, but they were a free bonus when I bought my raised beds. If that were the case I would 100% be returning them or asking for a refund. A disappointing product given the quality of the raised beds.

Easy to put together. I love that it self waters, and is deep enough for root development. The trellis is sturdy. Great quality product I will use every season for a long time. Price is ok.

I bought this tomato planter for my aggressive climbing raspberry plant. I should have bought a bigger/taller size though because the vine quickly outgrew due to the self-watering feature (yay). I took off a star because it is hard to roll when it’s full with water.
