I purchased this winch 5+ years ago to use on my car trailer. I regularly purchase non-running vehicles and use it several times per week, often pulling 3/4 and 1 ton trucks that are DEAD onto my trailer. I AM NOT GENTLE ON THIS THING!!! When purchased, it was to replace a 12000lb capacity unit and I worried that the reduced weight rating might be an issue on heavier vehicles. It absolutely is not. The reason for the review so long after I originally purchased is due to the fact that I was certain I had finally killed the thing and was about to replace it with an identical unit from TS. As a last ditch effort, I took the winch off of the plate on my trailer and found the positive cable loose on the winch itself. Took the cable off, cleaned it, coated the terminal in dielectric grease and Voilà!! She lives!! I've destroyed several winches over the last decade ranging from higher end Warn units to junk Badlands from Hobo-Freight. This thing is without question the most durable winch I've ever owned. It stays outside in the weather, no cover and just works when I need it. If I had to nit-pick, I will say that the remote contact posts on the winch itself will get loose from time to time but a quick spread with a pocketknife and it's back in the game. Only other minor issue is the length of the cable. It's somewhat long for my use and can get bound up if you're not watching while it retracts simply due to the amount of cable on the spool. I cut mine down to about 60 feet which is plenty for my application... Great product and if it crapped itself tomorrow, I couldn't complain!!

Installed mine with protective cover,, kept weather off it. I see a lot if negative reviews on this unit but mine NEVER FAILED ME . Used to pull non running rolling stock and amish buult wood sheds onto a goose
neck. Had over 5 years. Used both remote and wired winch controls. Requires good battery and good grounds like any HD winch but reliable
