Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hit or miss? I bought this winch on the 31st of May to help with building our timber frame house. Got the mount for my truck hitch, a dedicated battery, set it up easily enough (had to file the battery cables to get them to fit on the posts, holes were too small) and started hauling logs up to the build site. On the second day of use, the cables at the battery overheated. On the fourth day, while pulling the second log of the day, I pushed the switch to reel in cable and there was a Click and silence. Pushed the switch to roll out cable - click click click and then silence. I'm afraid I'm one of the people that got a bad unit. Reading the reviews, there are a few people reporting something similar to my experience, a fried motor after a brief working life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty Winch Extremely well built, heavy winch, I got the remote to go along with it, should do the trick if I ever need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good unit The winch works fine. The first wireless controller that I purchased for this unit actually ended up shorting out and I had to take it back but they allowed me to exchange it hassle-free.

I have an 8,000 lb. Travellers winch on my Jeep. Can I replace the steel cable with a synthetic rope?

Asked by: Explorer1
Yes, you can replace the steel cable with a synthetic rope, but need to make sure the rope is capable for 9000lb capacity. The rope needs come with at least 10mm diameter and less than 25m long.

This is rated for 9k pull but is there a rating for hoisting with it? Looking for an electric option to lift a jet ski using a Davit. Right now we have a chainfall but it’s a real pain.

Asked by: Bmocken
This winch can only be used for pulling, it should not be used for lifting.

Please confirm the amps this unit draws while in operation. A prior answer indicates 380 amps, which seems extremely high. I was considering a DC converter for stationary use and amp draw is important. Thanks

Asked by: Shamus6996
The Maximum current is 380A when full load 9000lbs (Under max line pull, the work time shouldn’t exceed 1 minute).
