Q: Can this be used on a gravel driveway

2 Answers
  • A: Hi there! Thanks for your question. This model #38753, is a single-stage snow blower where the auger (or paddles) are in constant contact with the ground and can pick up loose debris. That said, it is best used on smooth concrete and asphalt surfaces. We would recommend checking out a two-stage snow blower that can be used on gravel and loose surfaces, model #37798, which you can view online at: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/toro-power-max-824-oe-24-in-252cc-two-stage-electric-start-gas-snow-blower-37798-2017064. Thanks!

Q: is oil needed

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, there! Thanks for your question. You will need to add oil to this unit #38753, before operation. When you initially fill this unit with oil, carefully pour about 3/4 of the engine capacity (0.6 L/20 fl oz) of oil into the oil-fill tube. Wait 3 minutes for the oil to settle in the engine then read the oil level on the dipstick — if the oil level on the dipstick is too low, carefully pour a small amount of oil into the oil-fill tube, wait 3 minutes, and repeat steps 10 through 12 until the oil level on the dipstick is correct. If the oil level on the dipstick is too high, drain the excess oil until the oil level on the dipstick is correct. You can view more information on pages 19-20 of the manual at: https://www.toro.com/getpub/228205. Thanks!

Q: Will it plow on bare ground too

  • A: Hi, Judy! Thanks for your question. This unit #38753, is a single-stage snowblower — single-stage blowers are best used on smooth concrete and asphalt surfaces as the curved paddle is designed to engage with the pavement and may pick up loose items. Hope this helps, thanks!

Q: Not anywhere does it say the cord for electric start is not included. Yet, I did not have one in my box. Is this right?

  • A: Hi, James! Thanks for your question. This unit #38753, does not come with an extension cord for the electric starter. To use the electric starter, connect a power cord to the electric-start plug-in first and then to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) power outlet. Use only a UL-listed, 16-gauge power cord recommended for outdoor use that is not longer than 15 m (50 ft). You can view more information on page 12 of the manual at: https://www.toro.com/getpub/228205. For any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to the store you purchased from, or contact the Tractor Supply customer solution department at 877-718-6750. Hours are 7:00am – 9:00pm CST or Sunday 8:00am – 7:00pm CST. Thanks!

Toroughly good.

The snow blower worked perfectly. It exceeded my expectations. However I am still waiting for the manual which I had requested over a month ago. I don't want to make any mistakes in the maintenance in the future. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Worked well

Only used it twice. Once in a four inch snow. It worked like a champ. Once in about 14 inches (very unusual for my area). We chopped the heavy snow down to a smaller size. The machine was not meant for that snow. It struggled, but still worked for much heavier snow than it was built for.
