No description, photo, or illustration how this works. Is it mechanical? How does it kill? No info on how it works, or is it reusable?

Asked by: Moco Mag
Thank you for your interest in the Tomcat Rat Killer Disposable Station (TSC SKU#101519399). The product consists of a Plastic Bait Station which is pre-filled with 4 oz of Rodent Bait Blocks. Place the station in areas where there are signs of rodent activity (gnaw marks, damage, droppings, etc.). Rats (or mice) will enter the station, feed on the bait and die. There is no mechanical "trap" or mechanism to kill the rodent. Each Station contains enough bait (4oz) to kill up to 10 rats, or up to 48 mice. Once the bait is gone, the station can be thrown out. It is disposable, not to be re-used, so there is no need to access or handle any actual bait. I hope you find this answer helpful. Please feel free to visit our website at www.motomco.com for additional information.

How long does it take this product to kill the rats or mice?

Asked by: Nanu2018
The active ingredient in this product is Bromethalin, which is an acute, non-anticoagulant. Once a rat or mouse has eaten a lethal dose, it will kill them in 2 or more days, which is faster than anticoagulant baits that use other actives such as Diphacinone or Bromadiolone.

I have dogs, a cat and parrots in my house. The mice are well fed. No traps have worked thus far and I would like to use bait to try to rid myself of these pests. I fear one of my animals coming in contact with a "baited" mouse. How safe is this?

Asked by: laehop
We get questions all the time from people with concerns about "secondary poisoning" (pets coming into contact with mice that have eaten the bait and died). The bait in all of our Refillable and Disposable stations contains the active ingredient Bromethalin, which is an acute, non-anticoagulant active. Bromethalin will start to kill mice faster than other baits, so they consume less overall and there is less chance of the toxin building up in their system. In fact, there has never been a documented case of secondary poisoning with Bromethalin in dogs, cats or birds. We always recommend that you dispose of any dead rodents as quickly as possible, and also remove any food sources that could be attracting mice as part of your rodent control program. Good luck!

can you reload the bait if problem persists

Asked by: robinmac
This particular product is a Disposable station - it is designed to be thrown away once the bait has been consumed. However, Tractor Supply does sell a Refillable version of this station that is approximately the same size. TSC's code # is 109529199 - it is available at most TSC store locations.
