Use the Spectramast LC Lactating Cow Formula to help treat cases of mastitis. Spectramast LC is effective against several pathogens, including Escherichia Coli, Streptococcus dysgalactiae and coagulase-negative Staphylococci, and has a short meat withdrawal period, meaning it's a flexible treatment option for your cattle. Each 10 mL disposable plastet syringe contains 125 mg of ceftiofur. Spectramast LC is FDA approved and is intended for udder infusion in lactating dairy cattle only. How it Works

Ceftiofur is a comprehensive antibiotic of the cephalosporin class. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the cell wall of bacteria. Like many other types of B-lactam antimicrobial agent, antibiotics in the cephalosporin class inhibit the synthesis of the cell wall by interfering with peptidoglycan synthesis-essential enzymes. This causes bacterial cell lysis, which is responsible for the bactericidal activity of the agents. Ceftiofur works against Escherichia coli, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, and coagulase-negative staphylococci.

Special Precautions

  • If signs of an allergic reaction are noted (including difficulty breathing, hives, or skin rash), seek emergency veterinary attention.
  • Contaminated clothing should be removed.
  • If accidental exposure to the skin occurs, wash using soap and water.
  • If accidental exposure to the eyes occurs, flush using water for a period of 15 minutes.
  • Avoid exposure if you have known hypersensitivities to cephalosporin or penicillin.
  • Avoid skin sensitization by using protective gloves when handling.
  • Do not allow direct contact with clothing, mouth, eyes, or skin.
  • Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause sensitization.
  • Topical exposure to ceftiofur and other antimicrobials can cause a minor to severe allergic reaction in some cases.
  • Sensitized individuals may experience an allergic reaction to cephalosporins and penicillins.
  • Refer to the packaging insert for the full list of precautions
