Item Information

Seresto Flea and Tick Collar for Large Dogs repels and kills ticks for 8 months, including deer ticks (vector of Lyme disease and anaplasmosis), American dog ticks (vector of Rocky Mountain spotted fever and ehrlichiosis), brown dog ticks (vector of ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, bartonellosis, canine hemoplasmosis, babesiosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever), and lone star ticks (vector of ehrlichiosis). Prevents tick infestations within 48 hours after application. Re-infesting ticks are repelled and/or killed as quickly as 6 hours. Quickly kills fleas on cats within 24 hours and continues to prevent infestations for 8 months. Treatment with Seresto kills fleas and may reduce the risk of tapeworm infections (Dipylidium caninum), bartonellosis (Bartonella vinsonii, Bartonella spp.), and rickettsiosis (Rickettsia felis), which are types of canine vector borne diseases. Kills and repels fleas before they lay eggs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buddy loves not having fleas and ticks Buddy wears his collar always in: snow, house, high grass, and ocean. Couldn’t find a good picture in the mountains but he wears it there too. I never pulled a tick off him. That is important to me because of lime disease.

I recently bought two new collars for my Labrador dogs but we tragically had to put 1 of our dog's to sleep last week. The dog had only worn the collar for a 1month time prior to us putting him to sleep. My question is can that collar be saved and used

Asked by: jlrudy1984
Yes, the collar will be effective for 8 months after being removed from the packaging.

Can these collars cause itchy skin? We haven't seen any fleas or ticks on our dog, but he's scratching all the time.

Asked by: CelticLady207
Slight hair loss and mild skin reactions due to the mechanical irritation of the collar may occur at the application site which usually recover within 1 or 2 weeks without the need for collar removal. If you continue to have issues we recommend contacting your local veterinarian, or contacting Bayer's Veterinary Technical Services at 1-800-255-6826.

Asked by: Hollybz

After speaking with the manufacturer they do not anticipate that there would be any issues with doing so.

I have an Australian Shepherd , always running , through fields and woods . Is the buckle collar going to put him at risk of strangulation under these circumstances ?

Asked by: jlwilley
You will have no issues with strangulation. The force of a toddler's handshake is enough to trigger the breakaway mechanism. Needless to say, if your dog hooks himself on a branch, the collar will come off safely.
