The Royal Wing Safflower Wild Bird Food offers a great taste and plentiful nutrients. Finches and cardinals love safflower seeds and are drawn to the thick shell and quality protein, fat and fiber content. As an added bonus, safflower seeds have a bitter taste that squirrels don't like, ensuring your feeder remains undisturbed. Received 20lb bag as a gift. It's perfect. All seeds intact. Not sure why the negative reviews. This is high quality Safflower. I've been birding for 20 yrs. I know seed.

Bad Batch?

Bag was a mixture of safflower, corn & sunflower seeds. Took back to store and it was explained that it may have been the "end of another run". Got my money back and was given a 10# bag where I could see the contents. Was very pleased with the customer service.
Safflower seed is the way to go if you want to eliminate squirrels at your feeder. You will attract cardinals, chickadees, sparrows, finches, bluebirds, and we even have a woodpecker that likes it!
The next time, I will cut open the bag prior to purchase because it is a better bargain that the "big box store" in our area. Because the customer service was superior, I will give the seed another try.

I buy this seed specifically because grackles and other invasive black birds will not eat it. Cardinals and finches love it and they can feed on it without the black birds bullying them off.

I don’t buy safflower as often as I I buy mixed seed and sunflower seed, but I have never had problems with this product. The cardinals really like it.
