- A: Hi, Here is the information we received from the vendor- A water transfer pump (and certainly this 2.4 HP Engine Driven Water Transfer Pump) could be used to feed water sprinklers although Sprinkler Pumps are designed for this purpose. Use and effectiveness of this pump would depend on the size of the water lines, the distance and height of the water source to the pump, and the number of sprinkler heads, the distance from the pump, the required flow, and the size of the lines as well. There are Sprinkler Pumps available (although not gas driven) that are designed specifically for this purpose, delivering relatively low pressure and relatively high GPM volume. A gas driven pump gives you the advantage of portability, but in this application an electric Sprinkler Pump is more suitable if you don’t need to move the pump frequently.2 years agoHelpful?

Great Little Pump

I bought this little pump after reading the less than desirable reviews on other sites. I have been completely satisfied with this pump. I have pumped over 16000 gallons with it and it has worked flawlessly. I believe the negative reviews were due to operator error. You have to put oil in the engine before you operate it and it CAN NOT allow the pump to run dry, you MUST ensure it is primed each time. This is basic knowledge of pump operation. I would buy another with no hesitation.

I bought this pump earlier today and I am extremely disappointed. After getting everything set up and primed the engine struggled to idle. Finally after the motor got up to speed, the pump couldnt hold the prime for more then 5 minutes, so you had to start all over.

It Works. Nothing spectacular.

So far so good. I bought it to pull water from our hand dug well, so we can have water to our garden. I am not giving this 5 stars because I have not had it long enough. Also I had to purchase additional accessories such as a suction hose and over 100' of 1 1/2" of discharge hose and adapters, which is expensive. I would like to see them come with 1 1/2, both suction and discharge hose kits. As of right now it works as it should. This pump is powerful has plenty of pressure. For just irrigation of gardens this pump may be overkill, I had to throttle it down not achieving 100 percent pump efficiency. Make sure you keep it primed and prime it, common sense stuff. It does take a few seconds for water to start pumping.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Just bought yesterday and started using it this morning. When it works it runs 4 sprinkler heads pulling water from my pond but after 15 to 20 minutes it shuts off and I have to let it cool down before restarting. Useless product
