Brown in color, not as finely ground as other bran

It’s brown. I usually get another brand of DE that is very white and fine. This is brown and a little coarser. It’s not as pleasant to use. I use it in the dust bath for my birds (chickens and quail.) I will switch back to the other brand when this bag is gone.

Lots of uses

Red Lake Earth Diatomaceous Earth with Calcium Bentonite can be used in several ways, primarily as an animal feed additive and for pest control.  1. As an Animal Feed Additive: Anticaking Agent: Add to animal feed (for poultry, dairy, swine, cattle, equine, goats, sheep, bison, ratites, rodents, rabbits, dogs) at no more than 2% of the total diet to prevent caking and improve feed flowability.  Nutritional Benefits: When fed to hens, it has been shown to contribute to heavier egg weight, better feed efficiency, and larger eggs with more albumen and yolk.  2. For Pest Control: In Animal Coops/Areas: Spread in areas where animals naturally dust themselves (e.g., chicken coops) to help eliminate external parasites like mites and ticks.  Moisture and Odor Reduction: Sprinkle in coops or animal living areas to help reduce moisture and odors, as well as control crawling insects like darkling beetles and flies.  General Pest Control: Can be sprinkled around plants or directly on leaves in the garden to control pests like aphids, although it is effective only when dry and requires reapplication after getting wet.  Indoor Use: Can be used indoors for pest control by sprinkling the powder, leaving it for a few hours, and then vacuuming it up. Care should be taken to prevent animals from inhaling it.  Important Notes: Red Lake Earth is OMRI-listed for use in organic production and is considered environmentally friendly and safe, containing no antibiotics or harmful chemicals.  It is Food Chemical Codex Grade (Food Grade), not calcined, and sourced from freshwater.  When used outdoors for pest control, reapply after rain or strong winds as the light powder can be washed or blown away.
