I originally purchased the FarmWorks 20 mile charger and opted for the replacement warranty. When the FarmWorks charger failed at 8 months, TSC offered the Power Wizard as a replacement. The battery takes 3 days of sunlight to charge fully enough to operate. Meanwhile, I’ve got cattle in my yard. Wish the packaging had warned 1) that the battery wasn’t charged and 2) that solar charge was the only option to get the charger up and running. An inconvenience I’m willing to overlook for the build quality of this charger. The build quality of this charger is miles ahead of the FarmWorks charger. Fasteners are much better quality, built in gaskets for weather protection, wiring is much more robust. Overall, I’m impressed with the build quality. What would I change? An alternative for charging the battery and a much brighter power indicator light. This little dude does pack a punch and it comes with very clear instructions - I never realized how important proper grounding is for a fence charger.

I made sure the unit was properly charged. It was extremely weak 2,000 volts and also skipped many beats with no shock at all sometimes 2-3 in a row. The unit was on three 1000ft strands of well grounded electrobraid. Same fence performed great with another brand so it was not my install. Called and asked for tech line they were not very knowledgeable and thought that terrible performance was acceptable for such a unit. I took it back and used a 6 joule AC unit.
