They are definitely NOT rubber, they are plastic and pull apart much too easily! I got 12, installed them in October, and 4 months later I've got 3 left. The springs are weak (they are not high tensile handles, but standard electric fence handles) and the caps at the ends pop off with any hit. You are left with the gate attached to the metal conductor plate, and the cover and hook go flying. Horses bounce off fences, even when they are hot. These handles do not hold up like the yellow rubber. I bought them because they were less than 1/2 the price of the yellow rubber ones, and because the description said these were rubber. I've been replaceing them with old/weatherchecked/reclaimed yellow rubber ones, and those are holding fine when the pretty green and purple ones explode. We live in the cold, so rubber is necessary.
