Looking for a delicious plum tree that looks great in your landscape all year long and is fresh eating? Look no further than the Methley Plum tree cultivar! This variety blooms beautiful, fragrant white flowers with a bloom time beginning in spring. The dwarf Methley Plum tree produces sweet, reddish purple fleshed fruit that ripens in mid summer and is of medium size. It is self-pollinating, but planting two or more will result in a better crop from cross pollination. Only around 250 chill hours are required for the plum tree to set fruit. This early blooming european plum produces heavy annual crops of juicy sweet red fruit, with a crisp, mild flavored red flesh. Perfect for eating fresh right off the tree or making a sweet jam!

  • The Methley Plum tree does best in loamy, well-drained soil, and full sun. The tree is exceptionally disease resistant, heat tolerant, and also often serves as a pollinator for other Japanese plum trees.
  • The Methley Plum has a very fast growth rate. The semi dwarf tree can grow up to 12-15 inches per year. In addition, it can grow up to 15-20 feet tall at full maturity. Grow the Methley Japanese plum across the United States in USDA zones 5-9. It is a very cold hardy fruit tree!
  • One of the most rewarding fruit trees as they can produce fruit as a young tree in the first 1-2 years of planting. Fertilize in the early spring growing season to encourage plums with a slow release fertilizer.
  • Overall, a very easy to grow plum tree. We ship these trees rooted in soil in containers, they are not shipped bare root. This is to ensure the safety of the trees. No plums on your tree? We can help with that.
  • Does not ship to AK, AZ, CA, or HI

Great Fruit Trees

Received healthy trees quickly. One small damaged branch but otherwise after putting them in the ground they have made it clear that they want to grow and take off.

Fruit tree by mail

Product arrived in good condition considering the travel distance. The main stem/stock diameter to length ratio causes the tree to be wobbly but other than that tis a perfect plant
