Q: What happens when it gets wet?

1 Answer
  • A: When Paws & Claws Scented Non-Clumping Pelleted Cat Litter gets wet, the natural wood pellets absorb the moisture and break down into a sawdust-like material. Because this formula is non-clumping, it does not form hard balls but instead swells and "fluffs up" as it disintegrates

Q: Is it kiln dried

1 Answer
  • A: It is either made from Kiln dried fiber or rotary tumble-dried fiber. Tumble-dried hits higher temps than kilns do but both are dried pine fiber

Q: When should I completely change this.litter?

1 Answer
  • A: Completely change your cat's litter every 1-4 weeks, depending on the type of litter used and the number of cats. You should change it sooner if the box smells persistently, has visible wet spots, or if your cat starts avoiding the litter box. Daily scooping of solid waste and clumps is essential regardless of the full change schedule

Q: Is this safe for cats that are recovering from being declawed?

1 Answer
  • A: If your cat was recently declawed, your veterinarian likely recommended a specific type of soft, non-clumping litter, such as shredded paper or paper pellets, for the healing period

Q: Does poop stick to the pellets?

1 Answer
  • A: It is uncommon for healthy, firm poop to stick to pelletized cat litter. However, sticky or soft feces will cling to the pellets. This is one of the main differences between pellet litter and clumping clay litter, which coats and clumps around all waste for easy removal

Amazing! I wish I’d known a long time ago

It’s amazing! I was looking for an alternative to regular cat litter because I have 4 adult male cats. And they go to the bathroom A LOT! I was spending about 15-20$ a week on cat litter and I had to buy all the extras to cover up the smell. I found this on YouTube and thought I’ll try it-it’s cheap and worth a try. But it’s like magic! The pellets dissolve into sawdust when the cats pee and then you just have to remove the poop. And there’s absolutely NO smell at all. I mean I can’t really smell the pine but at least it’s not cat pee! It’s cheap easy to sift and keeps them from tracking litter all over my house. They took to it right away so thankfully I didn’t have any issues with them finding somewhere else to go to the bathroom. I have 2 litter boxes and I don’t even mind cleaning them anymore. If you want to trade the gross clay litter that turns to cement give this a try. Seriously-it works so well! I love it!

Overpriced for half as much

I was excited to see they made a cat version of the pellet litter. I was sorely disappointed to see it was the same as the horse pellet litter but in a smaller bag and priced for more. I bought a bag of both to compare and don't see a difference. I was really hoping the cat version at least had smaller pellets as in my experience the cats seem to prefer smaller ones. I foster a ton of cats/kittens every year and would love to find a pellet litter that is similar in size to Naturally Fresh Walnut pellets. Doesn't seem ethical to just put half the amount in a smaller bag, smack a cat on it and raise the price. Sigh.

From 60lb Clay nightmare to 20lbs of Pine

Best alternative to other litters. Clay litters cause a highly large amount of dust in the home that then in turn causes respiratory or breathing issues for our family. This litter is much better with less dust other than when your kitty pees. But, it smells like saw dust which is so much more tolerable than clay and/or the other more expensive alternatives. Also, this is much less I'm cost than the leading known brand of FelinePine. If you sue feline pine, this is exactly that but cheaper alternative. And, honestly I noticed a difference in how much more absorbant this brand is compared to FelinePine. Only reason I give it 4 stars is due to how you have to scoop it. You HAVE to remove poo each time they defecate otherwise, it'll smell! Then the other reason is it's much more tedious in sifting out unused pellets and/or scooping out sawdust. You have to use something of a scoop that won't allow the larger intact pieces to fall through while also getting the sawdust out from the bottom. I've learned to "sift" with a small cup and sliding back and forth to allow the dust to settle at the bottom then removing the intact piece, as much as you can to get to the sawdust. It's tedious as mentioned but a better option than the others compared to smell and how long you can make this litter last. Before I was buying and using about 2-3 buckets of clay litter a month. And, that weight alone is killer (my cats prior to our current were picky and would only go in clay litter. They DID NOT like the lightweight versions.) the pine pellets are 20lb bags. They seem to be much lighter as well as last so much longer than 60lbs of clay litter a month. In the long run I'm saving money and not having to buy a ton of litter. I typically use a 20lbs bag within a month and a half. Which is highly comparable to using 60lbs of clay litter in under a month. Again, sorry for the long winded feedback but, compared to all other litter; I really do like this litter, even if it is a pain in the butt to scoop at times. Still better and lasts longer!

Good price and quality

I absolutely love the inexpensive, natural, less harmful option this bag gives us. It smells fresh when up-kept and my cat doesn't mind it at all. If your cat is having problems switching over to pin pellets, I recommend putting an extra even layer of their old litter on the pine and slowly lessen the litter over time until it's just pellets. Good luck!
