My first one lasted 15 years until the coons managed to knock it over. Older version had a heavier lid and clamp. I still believe this is the best bang for buck in the timed feeder market. Note to buyers that due to the tapered barrel, most wire varmint guards are too short. This feeder will serve you well for years and years. Customizable timer to empty the drum in a couple days or to last for weeks depending on your needs.

On Time makes the best feed control units available. I have bought them for 20 years and they are bullet proof. This complete kit, not so much. The Tripod assembly for this unit is flimsy to say the least. The legs are round tubes which the square tubes on the metal band sit inside of with nothing to attach them together. The leg assemblies are cheaply made and again, nothing that firmly fits them together. There is nothing to stake the tubular legs down with. The first day it was up, I could only fill it with about 15 lbs of corn because that was all I had and it blew over. Frustrated, I contacted the manufacturer and they said that their Engineer says this system has never tipped over..........huh? He also said that this design is very good and stable. Being an Engineer myself and seeing what they are calling a great design, I told their customer care person that their Engineer may want to find new line of work. Again, great spreading units, terrible design of the rest. Simple changes to this design could make it awesome but obviously they know better.

I have used this feeder all season long (deer) after purchasing new back in November. The batteries have lasted the entire hunting season. Never had any issues with this feeder. I do want to note that you may need a little more space between the spinner and the drop point. I set the timer to go off twice a day for 10 seconds each time. It worked really well.
