Feed to beef cattle on pasture at the rate of 4 ounces per head per day. Always provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. Allow one linear foot of feeder space for each 100 head of cattle. It may be necessary to limit mineral intake for the first 2 to 3 weeks. Control mineral intake by positioning feeder in either high or low-traffic areas. To increase consumption, place feeder closer to water, loafing and shady areas. To decrease consumption, place feeder further away from water, loafing or shady areas.

Q: The previous answer said to "increase to account for the calf consumption" but did not answer the question- Increase by HOW MUCH? If there's not a reccommended feed rate for calves we will just use a % by body weight with 4oz per 1000lbs as a baseline.

Q: Is there a recommended feed rate for nursing calves? We would like to mix it with our creep feed.
10 months ago- A: Hi Neighbor- For Nutrena NutreBeef Cattle All-Purpose Mineral, a nursing calf's mineral intake should be factored into the overall mineral consumption for the cow-calf pair. A general guideline is to ensure the pair consumes an average of 4 ounces of mineral per day for a 1,000-pound cow. Since calves will consume some of this, the target disappearance rate of mineral should be increased to account for the calf's intake10 months agoHelpful?
