Great feeder, with a few modifications

This is a great feeder with a few modifications. First, we had to make a platform to put on the pedal that activates the door. In addition, a 1 1/2" thick board was placed under the pedal to keep the door from slamming open, scaring the birds away. With the board under the pedal and platform in place, I added a log beside each side so the birds couldn't reach in from the side. It now does exactly what we wanted, keeps birds and mice out of our chicken feed.

Better Than Grandpas

I have a rat issue in my chicken run and two grandpa feeder. That thing has been able to take the lid off the feeders which I never liked their design to begin with. So I wanted to try something new that would hold more feed and be sturdy enough for Mr Rat. Well not only does this prevent the rat from getting to the feed but it also holds an entire bag!
