Per the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) guidelines, vaccination with Prestige 2 should be done on an at-risk basis, as the customer suggests. The AAEP guidelines for vaccination for EIV is as follows: For adult horses, it is recommended that the following horses be revaccinated at 6-month intervals: • Performance, show, or pleasure horses constantly at risk of exposure The AAEP guidelines for vaccination for EHV-1 and EHV-4 is as follows: For adult horses, it is recommended that the following horses be revaccinated at 6-month intervals: • Horses less than 5 years of age. • Horses on breeding farms or in contact with pregnant mares. • Horses housed at facilities where horses come and go frequently (resulting in an increased risk of exposure). • Performance, show, or race horse. More frequent vaccination than at 6 month intervals may be required in certain cases as a prerequisite for entry to the facility.
