BotVax B Vaccine helps protect horses against botulism. Botulism is caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum Type B. If left untreated, horses may develop paralysis, respiratory failure and other severe symptoms. In addition to proper food storage and hygiene, an effective way to prevent botulism is by administering this BotVax B vaccine. It's sold in a 10 mL vial, which offers 5 doses.How it Works

  • Purified botulinum type B toxoid, aluminum phosphate absorbed
  • Thimerosal (as preservative) 0.01%
  • Formaldehyde (as inactivating solution) < 1.12%

    Special Precautions

    Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Epinephrine is antidotal.

    Overdose Information

    Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.

    Side Effects

    Transitory local reactions at the injection site such as heat and minor swelling may occur. Anaphylactoid reactions may occur.

    Storage

    Store unopened vials at 2°-7°C (35°-45°F). Do not freeze. Use the entire contents of the container when first opened. Do not store opened vials.

  • Vaccinates healthy horses against botulism, a rare but serious illness
  • Effective against botulism cases caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum Type B
  • Vaccinating pregnant mares is safe, and it may help unborn foals develop antibodies against botulism as well
