Q&As

1 - 6 of 6 Questions

Q: How come it drips a little bit when my guinea pigs drinks out of it and is it normal

1 Answer
  • A: It is normal for a small amount of dripping to occur from a water bottle, especially when your guinea pig is drinking from it. However, excessive leaking can indicate an issue. The "no-drip" design of a ball-bearing water bottle works by creating a vacuum seal. When your guinea pig nudges the metal ball to drink, it briefly breaks that seal, and a small drip is often the result of the vacuum re-establishing itself.

Q: Are there replacement parts available for this? I've had it for a year and all of a sudden it's leaking like crazy. As soon as my guinea pig pushes the ball, water runs out like from a faucet.

Q: Does this water bottle work for infant rabbits? I have one that came with the setup that I bought but she is not big enough to really get it to work great. I don't think she can put enough force to get it to work.

Q: I've gone through 4 of these, even trying to change out washers. Still leaking. I have a catch bowl under it...and a catch bowl under that and I have to empty those twice a day. I'm not understanding how that makes them leak free. What's the fix for that?

  • A: I’ve been using these for years and sometimes they do end up leaking. I take them all apart and use a small scrub brush. It seems like some of the pieces don’t always sit right. I trade them around to different bottles. I also have used thread tape on the bottle threads. When they work, they’re fabulous!

It is no drip but some rabbits can’t drink from It

It is indeed no drip and it is so much quicker to fill than the kind you have to pull off, unscrew, and refill. The water stays cleaner and can’t be spilled out like a bowl can be. That said it is more difficult to get water out of. Two of my rabbits were unable to get water out of it and went 2 days in high heat without any water before I realized I hadn’t had to fill the bottles. The other 3 adult rabbits and our grow our baby rabbits are using them without any apparent trouble but I would suggest keep a strict eye on water levels to make sure your rabbit is doing ok with it.

Buyer Beware! Your pets will dehydrate.

My wife and I bought this item a week ago for our ferret thinking it would be a great addition since his current water bottle leaks. A few days later I noticed that none of his food had been eaten and his water bottle was at the same level I originally filled it to. It was out of the norm because I’m constantly giving him scoops of food and he hadn’t been eating. This no drip water bottle did as it advertised and didn’t drip a single drop but I’m not risking the life of our ferret because he wasn’t able to get water from this bottle. We pulled the “no drip” water bottle and replaced it with his old leaking one and he was been drinking water for the past 10 minutes. If you care about the well being of your animals I highly suggest that you refrain from purchasing this item. Your pets will thank you! I highly suggest that Tractor Supply removes this item from their shelf because animals will die from dehydration!
