- A: The seat pad measures at its widest and longest points just under 15 ½” wide x 13” in length. There is some room on each side of the pad, so I would guess that it’s 16 ½” to 17” wide. It is very versatile and would be fine for open ocean because of the width which will give you the stability you are looking for. We would just recommend using caution and wearing a life-vest. Storage compartment issue

Not sure if storage compartment issue or if it was made like that. The storage space in the back is not waterproof, It’s just a hole that goes to the bottom of the kayak. Usually they have a little container attached to it to keep it away from the water that gets in it. Other than that it works great.
