Q: Can i create my own code on the combination lock safe

  • A: Hello, thank you for your interest in this safe. The mechanical lock combination requires specialized tools and expertise, so it cannot be reset without professional assistance.

Q: Now that I re-read my question, it sounds confusing. The combination safe reads it can come with or without the key. Can you tell me which I'll receive (with or without key) upon purchase?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your interest in this unit. Some mechanical locks feature a "day use" option and come with a key, which is used solely to lock the dial and prevent it from spinning. However, this key does not lock or unlock the safe itself. The mechanical lock on this unit does not include the "day use" feature and does not come with a key.

Awesome Safe!!

I purchased this safe due to the mechanical lock. When received the lock feels sorta cheap made, and now I wish I went with the electronic lock. Other than that this safe is awesome. A lot of room, extremely heavy, and built like a tank. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Very unhappy with the safe. No bottom pin, it came with a scratch on the front and the combo lock is very rough. I already had a Liberty safe, a Colonial 50, same physical size and all and it is a much nicer built safe. Also the door has in my opinion too much play in it. SUPER upset with this safe. I would NEVER but it again for the price I paid. Awful! 0 out of 5 stars. I was unaware that Liberty would build a safe that was this crappy. This is some strait up wal mart reject in my minds eye.

Nice safe with plenty of room

I purchased the combination lock option because i wanted to avoid electronic lock failures. The safe has plenty of room being the 72” tall version that has the additional second top shelf. The pockets in the door are nice for handgun storage. As shown in the pictures online, the safe can hold a lot of long guns due to the front to back row configuration, however, this requires removing the guns up front to access the guns in the rear. This could be inconvenient if all guns were frequently needed but this is how it reaches the advertised capacity. For that reason, i removed the stitching border strips and used a router to cut out the two long gun rack shelves to be similar to an older Browning safe i have that uses a “U” shaped configuration that allows much easier access, then I restapled the border stitching strips back to the fresh cutouts. That did reduce the long gun capacity but i never intended to store that many long guns in this safe, i intentionally purchased it oversized for my needs because i like space vs guns leaning on each other. The safe has pre drilled holes in the floor for anchoring if so desired. It also has a hole in the lower right back wall with plastic hole covers for electrical accessories such as a dehumidifier or lighting. It comes with 3 additional shelves and extra shelf hangers if only one side were needed for long gun storage. The TC website doesn’t list the body thickness but on a separate website that i read, it claimed 11 gauge steel body but the decal on the side of the door clearly states 12 gauge steel body and 75 min fire protection. I haven’t found specs for the door metal thickness. Overall it is a nice safe that i would think most would be satisfied with.

Yes, I recommend this product.
