I purchased this mixer as a Christmas gift. When we first opened the box, the faux-metal wraparound trim strip (with the KitchenAid logo) was poking up where the curve straightened out. I pressed it down and hoped it'd stay stuck. We checked the instructions to see how to insert the beaters into the mixer. There was NOT A WORD in the operating instructions about how to set up and operate the unit; only a list of "dont's" (don't operate over a hot stove, etc.) so we went ahead and snapped the beaters in, following the illustration on the bottom to choose the correct slots. One of the beaters was unbalanced, so much so that the unit shook when we increased the speed. We checked to ensure that the beaters were inserted properly and completely, and they were. This was unacceptable, so we plan to return the unit. I like the features, like the locking cable and the gradual speed-up, but the overall experience left me feeling disillusioned, for the price and because the mixer was given top marks by reviewers. A big disappointment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kitchenaid hand mixer is outstanding! It works just as well as the stand mixer while mixing up my cake batter. I have had nothing but success while using it. The cake batter came together nicely and the cake prep time was cut in half. The mixer is extremely easy to use and operate and the Clean Up is easy. I Love my Kitchenaid Hand Mixer. It Looks just as Sleek as the full sized stand mixer. The very same Quality has gone into this product. You won’t be disappointed with it!💕
