Oil Heater

I was looking for an oil dip stick on the internet and found Kats. It works very well to heat up my oil on my cub cadet tractor when temperatures are below 50 degrees. The dip stick heater heats up very quickly and warms up the oil in a very short time. So far I used it twice and made starting the tractor so much easier. The stick is not flexible so it will insert a few inches into the oil case. It s enough to heat the oil on a 19hp engine. I recommend this dip stick oil heater

Catastophic failure

Received this, it was in a box too small and was bent slightly to make it fit. Straightened it, placed it in dipstick tube and plugged it in. Immediately there was crackling and smoking, the top of the unit became red hot. Unplugged, tried to pull it out and the plastic top separated (melted) from the stick and came off in my hand. Pulled out the smoking stick with pliers; only half came out as the unit was internally shorted running 120 vac through the dipstick tube and melting the rod in half. Still have not retrieved the bottom of the rod from the oil pan.

Worked once on tractor

I bought this to heat the oil in my tractor, gas Farmall 706. It's been around 0F or below for weeks and hoped this would help. It did, ONCE. Pulled it out and it was clearly working, next day, nothing. Day after, nothing. Put it in a vice in my basement and plugged it in. Not even warm. It's also very rigid and you're not supposed to bend it but it's impossible to get it to the oil pan without doing so. Even bent it worked the 1st time. Brought it back 3 days later and got full refund at Tractor Supply. I changed to oil to a lighter weight and that helped immensely, oil needed changing anyway. I also always keep a heat lamp on hydraulic filter to aid in cold starts.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Worked until it didn’t. For like three minutes.

Plugged it in and it worked like a top for about three minutes. Read the other reviews closely. Not sure what happened but it quit working very shortly after it heated up initially. Returned for a refund.
