Will this work on keeping my outside water well from freezing up?

Asked by: Dr K
The heat output on the 1153 is 300-400 degrees F and heats an area approximately 8 square inches. The well would of course have to be metal for the magnet to stick to and also would have to have a flat surface for 100% contact from the heater to that surface or it will overload and burn out. The Thermostat range is 135 to 175 degrees F meaning that from the time it is plugged in the heat will rise to 175 degrees and then shut off until it reaches 135 Degrees where it will then turn itself back on.

Will the heat output from this item damage the paint on whatever it is attached to?

We do not advise using this item on painted surfaces as the paint may scorch or blister.

The item says to bring it in when temps are above zero Fahrenheit. I would like to keep it on the machine all the time. It is a stanby generator. Will that be all right?

Asked by: Stroke
Yes it can as it is thermostatically controlled. However, it should always be placed away from any fuel tanks or lines and be checked on randomly. They are fire retardant but caution is advised.

Can I use this to keep my Bayliner 21' I/O engine, (which is stored in my garage) to keep it from freezing up? I would either yes or no, be putting the engine access cover back on for heat retention.

Asked by: Vibershield
In order for an 1160 magnetic heater to work, it must be firmly attached to a flat area larger than the base of the magnetic heater.

its indicated as 'thermostatically controlled'.  May I ask what the 'on' and/or 'off' temperature(s) are?  Thank you-

Asked by: steveMazz
This product does have an automatic shut-off. When the engine reaches 275-degrees, the heater shuts off. The heat output for this heater is between 300 and 400 degrees. The heater is usually attached to the oil pan or engine block.
