This Hobart Aluminum ER5356 Welding Wire is a general-purpose type aluminum alloy which is typically chosen for its relatively high shear strength. When exposed to salt water, this aluminum welding wire offers excellent corrosion resistance. The ER5356 aluminum of this Hobart welding wire should be used for welding 5000 series aluminum base metals. - A: Hi! Per the vendor: To answer the question that was posted about our aluminum welding wire, like all aluminum MIG wires, it must be used with a shielding gas. The recommended gas is 100% argon. We do not recommend using it without gas as the result will be a very poor, structurally weak, unacceptable looking weld.3 years agoHelpful?
