Q: Can this be used for a hot spot on a dog to get them to stop licking it and to help heal it. I have tried just about every other “conventional” solution

  • A: I would not use Venice terpintine on anything but a hoof. It is irritating to the skin and when warm gots on EVERYTHING and is difficult or impossible to get out/off. If you havr tried sulfadine/sulfer products with poor results are you using them according to directions cleaning and reapplying as needed. I have a shepard/border collie mix that was a hot spot magnet. Silver products do work but a hotspot needs to be kept clean washed with a soft cloth mild soap and water and reapplied if licked off. I have used the Blue medication on resistant hotspots it is usually in the equine section and comes with a dauber cap. It will turn ANYTHING it touches blue INCLUDING HIS TOUNGE. But they don't lick it as much and it will heal it if the wound is kept clean and the medication is kept applied. Hope this helps. Anita

not working as well as the last year's cans

I have used this for years in Fl with great results with rain soaked feet but the last 2 cans have been "pastier" and hard to get out of the can and do not stick properly. Hopefully just a bad patch and not a formula change.

the item i received had a flat top (metal screw on cap) and no brush included. i was expecting the item in the image with an internal brush attached to the lid. It was an inconvenience, but it seems to work.
