Nothing

I put this down 8 days ago in my yard in Georgia. The weather has been unusually warm for this time of year..60's and 70's. I have kept it watered and the seed has not had one sprout... nothing. Still waiting.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good results multiple times

I planted this in several spots ranging from small 5ft patches to larger 100sqft - 250sqft areas this Spring (2025) using multiple 15lb bags. All areas where I used it began to sprout in 3 days which is awesome - some more "premium" $$$ brand grass, also mostly fescue, took weeks and didn't fill in nearly as good as this seed. Unfortunately, I planted over the course of a month and a half and only the earlier stuff was deeply rooted enough to survive the brutal summer we had. Even then, it didn't fare too well (maybe 40% die off) which is not the fault of the product, really just me not knowing what I was doing... and perhaps fescue isn't the best grass for my region. Well, I doubled down and bought another bag to completely redo enormous areas that had died over the summer and been taken over by weeds.. and fill in some of the patchiness from the areas that mostly survived. Planted 9/16/25 and once again had seedlings in 3 days, some even sprouted in 2. It's been a week and things are filling in nicely, so germination rates are pretty stellar with this product. I'm hoping that planting in Fall will yield better success, so the grass will be much more established by the heat waves in summer of 2026. Thankfully it remains pleasant outside until mid November so it has a full 2 months to become established before I have to start raking leaves and temperatures start dropping.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pretty Spring Grass, Dead by Summer

Even though this seed mix is labeled for the South, my experience planting it in early spring was mixed. The seed germinated well, and I quickly had a nice green lawn—most likely the rye grass in the mix. It came in thick, pretty, and without any issues at first. However, as spring turned into summer, the grass died off completely. I believe the rye couldn’t handle the warmer weather. I plan to try again this fall, hoping the fescue in the mix will establish better and provide a sturdier, longer-lasting lawn once the rye fades. Overall, it’s good for quick early growth, but time will tell if the fescue establishes strong enough for long-term results.

Buy sod!!!!

I chose this seed over sod and spent a lot of money on several of the large bags due to having very largeyard. . Groundworks is made by tractor supply. My income is VA disability, so spending as much as I did put a big dent in my month to month paycheck. I wanted a nice yard for 10 years and finally decided to go for it. Even though not in instructions, I tilled, did a soil test to find out dirt was lacking nitrogen. Added some tested again and was perfect. Seeds went down and were covered 1" with organic top soil. 3 weeks later my yard was absolutely beautiful. This was in April. Filled in some bare areas in early may as some of the seed did not produce which was expected. Was so happy to finally have that beautiful lush green yard that we could walk barefoot in. Well, that was short lived. Once the heat really started ramping up in mid June, grass rapidly started dying, even with proper constant watering. Tested soil again, all was well. So basically this grass that advertised tough heat and drought tolerant is a load of bull. I was mostly mad due the amount of money I reluctantly paid for all the bags let alone the top soil. Spoke to tractor supply manager, they don't warranty anything over 30 days, how can I get warranty on their grass seed if it takes 30 days to completely fill. No help at all. I love tractor supply, but will never buy actual tractor supply made products. I will be doing a video review of the product for Facebook etc as i have pics and videos of whole process from beautiful to death.
