Q: Why does TSC call this a MIG welder when the Forney brochure and owners manuals on the app all call it a FluxCore Welder?? Does it have the capabikity to add a tank, regulator and Metalic Inert Gas nozzle on the gun?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. Per the vendor, "The 261 machines do not have the capability to add inert Gas. Flux core welding is a type if MIG welding that does not require Gas or regulator."

Q: What does MIG stand for if it doesn't use gas?

1 Answer
  • A: Metal Inert Gas (MIG) is also known as gas metal arc welding (GMAW). This type of welding is basically an arc welding process that joins two metals. This is done by heating the metals with the help of an arc. This arc is formed between the surface to be welled and a continuously fed filler electrode. This type of welding uses a shielding gas to protect the molten pool of weld metal from reacting with elements present in the atmosphere. This MIG Wire is actually “Self Shielding”. Self Shielding MIG Wire is a tube of metal with a flux core. As the welding arc melts the wire it also burns the flux, this produces a gas shield around the welding process.

Absolute garbage

Absolute garbage. If all your looking to do is stick some metal together then it might work for you. It doesn’t get hot enough to produce a decent weld on even thin metal. You could give this to a professional welder that stacks dimes all day and it would make them look like they have never welded a day in their life. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

No, I do not recommend this product.
