- A: You can use the Ottawa Sit-on Kayak with or without using the scupper plugs as long as the drain plug is closed and tight. Water can enter the deck without the plugs but will not cause issues with flotation.8 days agoHelpful?

Decent kayak

Decent kayak. There’s really no reviews or video on these kayaks yet so i decided to get it and see how it was. The quality is decent all the hardware is just drilled straight through the boat which could be better for the price. It does perform pretty good and is really stable. Not the fastest boat but I stand up and fish no problem

GOOD BUT NOT PERFECT

I was one of the first people to use this kayak. I was there when they showed up in store for the first time and I purchased it immediately. PROS - It looks really sharp. It’s huge. It has tons of storage space. It absolutely asserts dominance on the water. I’m in love with how tactical it looks. CONS - It’s on the heavier side, almost 80 pounds. You’ll need a kayak cart if you’re solo. The first time I sat in the seat the plastic chair strap buckles broke into a million pieces, cheaply made. I ordered metal replacements online. The foot rests feel cheap and flimsy too. I also added a foam hunting pad for a more comfortable ride, and a green milk crate on the back. If you care about “looks” this really is a cool looking boat.
Basically it is a good entry level boat. It steers and tracks alright and it’s unstoppable once you get cruising. It’s sturdy and it will easily carry all your gear and accessories for a nice fishing or camping trip. I don’t regret this purchase but beware you will probably have to replace or upgrade some of the outer hardware.
