- A: Base is a textured material, heavy enough to keep the unit stable. It looks like clay but is some sort of very thick molded (plastic?) material. The bowl is plastic, approximately 1/4 inch thick, so again, pretty heavy duty.5 years agoHelpful?

Q: I'm wondering if the material this fountain is made of gets hot in the sun, like metal might. Does the water in the birdbath stay cool? I live in Arizona, and don't know if this would be functional for me, as the birds won't perch there if it's too hot.

- A: Good question. And, I am not sure. All I can tell you is that I have birds all the time sitting on the edge of my bird bath - and we live in Austin, TX. I would assume all meterials do get hot during the day if in full sun - but this is a fine earth and plastic mixture - it will not get as hot as any metal materials. Q: Hello.... I am wondering if the base of the bird bath is hollow? Specifically I want to put it over a piece of pipe sticking out of the ground that is about 2-3 in height. Can this bath sit on top (cover) of that or is the base flat? Thank you for you

This is light weight and easy to assemble. It’s pretty small though, so check the measurements. I was thinking it would be larger.

Good design & attractive garden accent

The instructions from Tractor Supply didn't quite match this model, but Exaco support responded right away to my email. The bird bath wasn't difficult to assemble and seems quite sturdy. The lower center of gravity than some designs should help it withstand wind gusts. Adds a nice touch to my front native plant garden.
