For every inch of trunk diameter apply 1 cup around the base, mix it into the soil and water thoroughly.

A: Yes, the dry fertilizer can be used on potted plants. You have both options. You can scratch in the dry fertilizer around the tree and water it in or you can create a tea by mixing 1 cup per gallon of water, let it sit for 24 hrs then water it in and even spray the foliage. Using it in the dry form will feed the tree slowly and will provide the nutrients for a longer period of time, so you only need to reapply every 2 months. Using it in the liquid form will release the nutrients quicker, but will not last as long, so you can reapply every 10-14 days.
