Miracle-Gro Tree & Shrub Fertilizer Spikes, 12-Pack, 1003861 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tree Fertilizer I pushed the tree Fertilizer spikes around my base stalks on my grapevines and i sware in a month later and 3 rain falls the vines have grown 3 to 4 times faster and its unbelievable to watch vines grow over a foot a day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Impressed I bought three packs of these spikes. The plastic caps were useless after the first two spikes and most of the spikes had fractures that caused them to break apart when trying to insert them into the ground. First time using the Miracle Gro spikes, never had these issues with Jobe's spikes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plastic “cap” is awful The product works great but the plastic cap used to pound the spikes in the ground splits on the 2nd or third spike. This has happened for years. I don’t know why I didn’t think of just using a shovel to bury them before today. Way easier and faster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Way to Fertilize Trees and Shrubs I like this product because it is very easy to use. Simply pound in the Food Spikes using the included reusable caps. It is best to do this after a rain, when the soil is moist... or you can kind of dig a 'pilot hole' first. I use 3 or 4 around each tree. The lawn grass obviously likes it as well because it is taller, greener and thicker around where the stake is located. I think the best time to use these is in Late Fall, so that the nutrients are available to the tree after it awakens from winter dormancy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

can these spikes be used for tomato plants?

Asked by: dirty hands
These are safe to use for tomato plants; however, the manufacturer would recommend using a liquid fertilizer instead as these are so large and it can be difficult to even the coverage out on the plant.

Will they work on Palm trees? And how far from tree and how many around the tree?

Asked by: Gramps Number 1
Thank you for inquiring about Miracle-Gro Tree & Shrub Fertilizer Spikes. You can indeed use this on your palm tree. The number of spikes and placement of them will depend on the diameter of the dripline of the tree. Please contact us at http://tinyurl.com/noc5mcg if you have an interest in discussing this further.
