DK2 Power 14 HP Electric Start Stump Grinder with KOHLER Command Pro Gas Engine, 14 in. x 4 in.

It eats dry White Oak stumps like a commercial machine. It is heavy so be aware of using it on slopes. The first stump was 36 inches in diameter. It took an hour from 6 inches above ground to 3 inches below. All of the grinders that I have used in the past were hydraulic swing so this one is a workout. Judging by my estimates it will pay for itself in 10 to 12 stumps. On flat ground no problems. Slopes have a learning curve to be sure.

The DK stump grinder did a decent job on the stumps but mechanicaly had a lot to be desired !! On my first job the grinder broke down because the way they ran the wiring for the battery it rubbed through and melted the wiring and blew the battery !! So after that I had to pull start the machine , now I have to find a repair facility to fix it . While I was doing other stumps that day 2 different sets of nuts and bolts came loose and fell off the machine into the shavings so I had to stop the machine to look for them . One of the nut and bolt was on the handle that bolts the user bar that you have to keep squeezing while operating the machine or it will shut off . Well when the bolt fell out of the handle it made the handle cock so the one part of the handle was no longer touching the cut off switch in the handle and the machine shut off while I was over the stump and debris !!! In my opinion the company did not check this machine over properly before it was shipped and also in the ad fir the machine I was supposed to get a heavy duty box that comes on the machine that holds safety gear . Well the company is stil trying to figure out what one of the items is that is supposed to come with the package in the box . In summary I am not at all pleased with this product at this point because of its short comings as far as workmanship , but it does do a decent job grinding stumps . However if you are looking to buy one don’t make the mistake and buy one without forward and reverse gears because it’s hard to muscle around when you are working on multiple stumps !!!

Only complaint I have is the battery mount/casing is brittle plastic and with the vibration of the machine can snap. I had to use straps t reattach. Other than that the machine works great and the teeth last forever!

I got one new in the crate 2 years ago. No real assembly instructions, bad battery hold down design , and some sub standard welds. Other than that, it does the job.
