How does this product stay in sewer line to kill roots?

Asked by: MPN59
The Root kill is a powerful treat designed to control roots in residential sewers, septic tanks, leach lines and leach line pipes. Plant roots can penetrate through small cracks and poorly sealed joints causing breakage, reduced flow, and eventually blockage. The Zep Root Kill will take approximately 4 treatments for the copper sulfate to dissolve and decay the roots penetrating the lines. Once the roots have accumulated sufficient amount of copper sulfate through crystal or liquid form, the roots will die, restoring flow. Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate your business and opportunity to service you. Sincerely, Zep Inc. Retail Technical Support Team

I gather this kills tree roots ... Will it kill the tree or bushes of the roots? A different product in the farmers almanac says in an advertisement says it won't.

Asked by: Team3
No. The Zep Root kill control the roots entering through the small cracks and poorly sealed joints of sewer lines. Trees and shrubby growing near a treated line normally are not affected due to only a small portion of their roots being in contact with the Root Kill. Thank you for your inquiry.
