Q: Why was mine dried out and dead when brought home from store?
3 years ago- A: Dear Johnny, thank you for your question. Our product is dormant, packaged bare root plants intended to be without foliage (leaves) while in the store. Dormant plants such as these offer the opportunity to jumpstart spring planting because they can be planted in the ground earlier than potted plants. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 6-8 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth. The roots in the package should be moist, pliable, and firm at the time of purchase. At DeGroot, we strive to provide high quality plants that have high success rates for the home gardener at fair and reasonable prices. We encourage you to contact us at (269) 468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com so we may assist you further with your Sam Houston Peach Tree. Thank you, DeGroot Inc.3 years agoHelpful?

Q: Can the taproot be cut so it will stay small, much like is done with Bonsai trees (maybe so it can grow only to 7-10' tall? If so, it would make a great container tree.
3 years ago- A: Thank you for your question. Bonsai can be accomplished without trimming the roots. If it is necessary to cut the root to fit in the pot, then yes trim it. If the plant will fit in the pot without a root trimming, the structure of the bonsai will be achieved from top pruning and manipulation only of the canopy. If you have additional questions, we encourage you to contact us at (269) 468-6714 or sales@degroot-inc.com so we may assist you. Thank you, DeGroot Inc.3 years agoHelpful?
