'Golden Delicious' apple is one of the most widely planted varieties in the world. It produces large fruit with beautiful golden skin and crisp flesh. The delicious fruit is sweet and rich, almost like raw sugar cane. 'Golden Delicious' is a versatile apple for fresh eating and baking. This all-purpose apple typically ripens from September to October. It is one of the best pollinators for most other apple tree varieties. 'Golden Delicious' is a self-fruitful tree; however, the best fruit is produced with a pollinator, such as a Crabapple or a Red Delicious.Guaranteed to Grow* Product must be purchased before June 1st. They will grow with some TLC

I bought 10 trees in total, 2 of each variety. I lost 2 of the 10. DeGroot refunded me no issues at all. They honor their word. As for the alive trees - they are thriving very well. But I had to go beyond the instructions to do so. I only bought trees that passed the scratch test. I planted them in amended soil, followed by a fertilizer, and daily watering. I also clipped any leaves that were on the trees at purchase time. This allows the roots to "set in" better by not focusing on top growth. These will take some years to mature, but for the price the wait is worth it. Nursery 3-5 y.o trees are around $100. I hope TSC has them next year I will buy 20 more for my orchard knowing if I lose a few they are guaranteed. My only ask is they provide some more varieties, such as granny smith.

No roots

I bought this and a Fuji apple tree and a plum tree a few days ago. Any main roots of the trees have been chopped off about 3-4" from the base of the tree. They obviously had great root systems!, but these trees fell out of their bags of dry, dusty dirt like long sticks upon getting opened... no roots. No moisture whatsoever. The long bags they're packaged in are a complete farce. You could fit these mangled roots into a ziploc sandwich bag, and it be spacious. I clearly couldn't plant the sticks in their designated spots on the property, so I potted them to keep an eye on them. I have purchased many bare root trees... I have never seen anything as awful as this. I do not anticipate these trees ever showing signs of life.

Looking Forward to some of my Favorite Apples

Looking forward for some fruit. Right now it's just a fancy stick, which looks healthy at least. Had no leaves or growth when I bought it. Haven't had any bad luck with any purchases yet with TSC.

Dead tree when purchased

I would give this zero stars if I could. I bought this tree and it was dead when purchased. I did not realize it until I got it home to plant it. This was a total waste of money. I am very disappointed. I will never buy this brand again.

Dear Star06, we're sorry to hear you had a negative experience with our Golden Delicious Apple Tree. Our product is dormant, packaged bare root plants intended to be without foliage (leaves) while in the store. Dormant plants such as these offer the opportunity to jumpstart spring planting because they can be planted in the ground earlier than potted plants. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 6-8 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth. At DeGroot, we strive to provide high quality plants that have high success rates for the home gardener at fair and reasonable prices. We encourage you to contact us at (269) 468-6714 or [email protected] so we may assist you with a refund. Thank you, DeGroot Inc. DeGroot

Severely pruned roots

I bought this tree 3 years ago and was shocked to see the roots had been pruned to 3-4 inches. The tree was lualive so I potted it in a 5 gallon pot and put it in my greenhouse for protection for a year. It has been in my orchard for 2 summers, 2023 will be the third. It is alive but it is not thriving. I don’t know if it will ever produce! Why oh why were the roots so severely pruned. I have purchased many bare root dormant plants. Never have the roots been subjected to such severe pruning.

No, I do not recommend this product.
