Reviews

CountyLine Rotary Cutter, 5 ft. is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 238.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was time to replace my 20 year old cutter. This is a well built cutter for the price. It is exactly like the 20 year old King Kutter I was replacing except for the shackle on the top 3 point hitch attachment point which I switched over from my old cutter as it makes attaching the cutter a lot easier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Damaged from TSC Forklift Operator I just bought this unit on 9/1/20 at a TSC 40 miles from my house since none of the local stores had one any stock and getting one ordered with COVID-19 was month's away and no promises. Drove out with my trailer and had it loaded carefully by the forklift operator onsite and she did a great job. However, once home, I backed up to the trailer and attached the unit to my tractor and did the the required prep work before engaging it for a test run/cut. The Rotary Cutter was shaking badly to the point where we had to shut it down and take it to the garage to have a closer look at the problem. On the underside, the Blade Pan (Stump Jumper) was bent severely and the blades themselves were jammed in place. I could see the damage was from a forklift and probably sustained from moving the unit around while it was onsite to various locations, offloaded from the delivery truck or by some other means. (see photos) I spent the next 6 hours dismantling the blade assembly for repairs as I did not want to load it back onto my trailer and return the Rotary Cutter back to the store that entailed an 80 mile round trip and then try to find another one somewhere else farther away. It was difficult to get the Blade Pan assembly off the tapered shaft of the gearbox since the unit was outside for some time and rust had set in. Even the blades were hard to get off as they too were rusted into place. You would think a company like Tarter/Countyline could invest in a couple of cans of WD-40 or other rust inhibitor and just spray the raw steel of their farm implements they sell, so we don't have to write negative reviews on the rusting problems they all seem to have. I worked on straightening the Blade Pan as best I could with my Shop Press and put it all back together using anti-seize compound for the gearbox tapered spline shaft and cutting blade hardware as well. This was a lot of work to say the least. Took it for a test cut and it was as good as it would be. But trying to get another Blade Pan under warranty directly from Tarter was not to be. They want me to file a damage claim with the store instead but the store only wants me to bring it back fro return. I did them a favor by making repairs and bought a unit that was really not sell-able. We will see what the store can offer me for all my trouble....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent for the money Had this bush hog for 6.5 years and it finally bit the dust yesterday. I cut sweet gums up to 3 inches thick with it and have hit hundreds of rocks. It’s definitely a light duty gauge in the mower body / housing. That’s what finally gave way. The welds just came apart. But, I got probably 150 hours out of it on some heavy duty cutting over 6-7 years. If you want a bush hog that lasts longer - have to spend 3X.
